Andrew was the consultant Physiotherapist for the South African National Triathlon Team from 2008 to 2012, and consults for other professional sporting teams in a rehabilitation and performance enhancement role. He is internationally published on articles regarding core strength and overuse injuries. He has been a Clinical Pilates instructor since 2001 and has modified his approach to great effect in the rehabilitation and performance fields.

He has been instrumental in advancing the Clinical Pilates field by using Real Time Ultrasound to assess the efficacy of Transversus Abdominis and Multifidus contractions. The modification of core strength programs by making the programs more functional, and clinically objectively measurable has shown a significant improvement in the long-term rehabilitation rates of his patients.

Areas of interest include sporting injuries, overuse injuries, back and neck pain and Sacro-iliac joint alignment issues. Andrew is also an experienced Trauma ICU Physiotherapist and treats related chest conditions.

Andrew is an ITU (International Triathlon Union) Level 2 certified competitive Triathlon Coach and Running Coach, coaching and guiding athletes to all distances of races from Sprint distance Triathlons to Ironman, and from 10km Road running races up to Comrades Marathon. A particular niche of Andrews training is Ultra Distance Trail and road running, having an acute understanding of the intricacies needed to work on in order to succeed in these tough events. Andrew will also gladly assist with specific Trail running coaching of all distances, from short sharp efforts to 100 Mile trail running races.

Andrew was the head of the Triathlon South Africa Medical Commission from 2006 to 2016, and ran Triathlon/Duathlon clinics for underprivileged children affected by HIV/Aids at Noahs Ark in Diepsloot, Soweto.

As an athlete Andrew is a sub 3hr marathon runner and avid Mountainbiker. He has completed 4 Full Ironman and 20+ Half Ironman races and back to back Comrades Marathons. Currently Andrew competes in Ultra Distance Trail running with top ten finishes in all 6 of South Africas 100 Mile trail runs, including winning the Cederberg Traverse 100 Miler. He has also completed more than 10 100km trail running events. Aside from Races, and above all else, Andrew enjoys adventures and carries out Traverses of wild natural areas like the Wild Coast, Lesotho and the Tsitsikamma and Outeniqua mountains.

Active and Balanced lifestyles are what Andrew promotes and uses as a Mantra to get people to achieve their goals and maintain their bodies to be able to achieve what they set out to do.

I am committed to help manage your pain, and through a partnership, to guide you towards a pain-free and balanced lifestyle. I believe in approaching each unique patient, with evidence based skills, in a conscientious, compassionate and responsive manner.

I joined Andrew Van Rensburg Physiotherapy in 2020, after working in Knysna for 9 years. Originally from Kwazulu Natal, I graduated in 2003 at Stellenbosch University.

I then spent the next 2 years in the UK and Saudi Arabia where I gained much experience in the field of Orthopaedics and Neuromuscular disorders and was involved in the Saudi Special Olympics.

I then returned to Cape Town and continued to work and further my experience, with a special interest in Orthopaedics. In 2012 my wife and I moved to Plettenberg Bay.

I enjoy trail running, mountain-biking, swimming and surfing.

I currently hold membership with The Health Professions Council of SA.

Robyn Perry

Robyn graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2009, with an honors in BSc Physiotherapy. She went on to complete her year of community service at Natalspruit hospital in Katlehong in Gauteng.

She spent the next year traveling and volunteering on conservation projects, before returning to Johannesburg, to begin working in an out-patient practice. In 2013, Robyn moved to Cape Town, chasing an active, outdoor life, and joined a sports and orthopaedic based practice, with a large multi-disciplinary team. During this time, she developed an interest in triathlons, and trail running, and began competing in both half and full distance Ironman races, as well as multiple trail and swimming events.

She has completed her Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) diploma, as well as various other sports injury related workshops and courses. Robyn has developed a special interest in running, cycling and swimming related injuries, in particular hip injuries. As sport is a major part of her life, she can easily relate to her patients, and encourage them to do what is needed to get back to a pain-free active life.
